Hi, does anyone know if there is a more cost-effective way to get a Doby Vision trims license? I don't really want to pay $1K for something I'll only use very occasionally.

That is the price, I have never seen a sale so far. You can move your project to a system with one. $1k is not nothing but if you do a few jobs a year it will pay for itself and it's a lifetime LIC
Don’t buy it until you get hired for an HDR show and then bake it into the price. I always charge more for Dolby Vision cuz it’s more work. If you want to learn and/or test, you get a short license during certification. The 1k was a nice price reduction from what it used to be.
