Notes from FSI

All DM series Flanders Scientific monitors now feature 3 selectable HDR Preview modes.

FSI CEO/GM Bram Desmet had this to say about these new capabilities: "Our aim with these new HDR monitoring modes was to allow users to leverage current technology for High Dynamic Range signal monitoring in production and quality control applications. While not intended for HDR mastering these modes do provide a simple and cost effective way to monitor PQ or HLG signals."

Three monitoring modes are available:

Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG).

ST2084 clipping at approximately 300nits.

ST2084 with a highlight roll. This setting may be particularly useful in production environments as it will allow operators to visually distinguish all code values present in a PQ signal.

Best update since the LUM Coloring was added. The real-time scopes are really smooth and nice.

Question though: In the menus, you can adjust the "Scopes & Audio Meters Profile" 1, 2, or 3. As far as I can tell, these are different from the "Real Time Scopes". Is there anywhere in the menus to adjust the settings on these scopes? I know the knobs adjust placement, the graticule on the waveform, and whether you're viewing waveform, vectorscope, or both, but I can't seem to adjust transparency, and I'm wondering if I can toggle between a LUM Waveform and an RGB waveform? Also, I'm used to the scope being a bit larger; the scopes from the Scopes & Audio Meters Profiles are currently larger than the Real Time. Anywhere in the menu I could look to adjust any of these things?

Digital Levels Custom Thresholds

Firmware version 1.1.04-2231 is now available as a free update for the DM170, DM240, and DM250 and features the following enhancements:

''Selectable waveform trace color is something users have been requesting for sometime. The new Multi-Color Waveform capability meets this need and goes a step further by allowing you to set multiple thresholds on the waveform for up to 6 ranges shown in up to 6 different trace colors. This functionality can make your waveform much easier and faster to read by identifying various ranges of interest in unique and easy to distinguish colors.''
