HD or QHD Monitor for HD Monitoring: Eizo CG247X vs. CG2700S

Hi guys, first of all sorry for my english, it's not my native language.
I'm planning to get my first "pro" colorist setup at home, to work on small projects (only in SDR).
I will start to work with my laptop, a Macbook Pro M1 Max, using a ultrastudio Monitor 3G for monitoring (as external 4k cards are too expensive).
I have the opportunity to buy a second hand Eizo CG247X (HD monitor) at a really good price, used only 3500h, or a new Eizo CG2700s (2K monitor) with a reduction which makes it quiet affordable for my budget.
I'm a bit lost about which factors are more important to make my final decision:
- should I stick to the CG247X HD monitor to get pixel to pixel monitoring, and avoid any issue with grain, NR, blur, etc.? Or does the 2k monitor handles so well that it's no concern?
- should I prioritize the better contrast on the CG2700s, which will give better results in the dark parts of the images? Or the difference is so marginal that this is not an issue?
I know that a 27inches screen will be more comfortable than a 24, but I think that these two questions are more important to be sure to provide a good job for my clients and avoid any bad surprise rendering the final job.
I also considered the BenQ SW272U screen (4K) but decided to stick to Eizo.
What do you guys think?

I'm not really an Eizo fan, but there are people who like the CG-series. In 2026, I would prefer a 4K display over an HD display.

The key is that the display has to be calibrated, and (assuming you're using Resolve) you have to use a color-managed output from your computer, using a Blackmagic Declink or UltraStudio.

Why aren't you a fan of Eizo and what would you recommend then?
And yes I'm using Resolve. I know I have to use color management. But since I will monitor in HD through a Ultrastudio Monitor 3G, my question really goes to the consequences of such a choice on a 2k (or 4k) monitor. I wonder if it's better to have a HD monitor to avoid any unexpected consequences, specially with spatial tools (NR, Blur, Grain, etc.).

I think the LG OLED C- and G- series and the Asus ProArt QD-OLEDs are better overall. I own about 6 or 7 LG OLED's and they calibrate very well, and I'm about to install an Asus PA32UCDM in our main room this week. If we're delivering in 4K, we always monitor the last pass in 4K to make sure there's no issues with sharpening or NR.

Thanks, I'll check this. So you recommend to use a 4K display, even though monitoring with a HD monitoring card. But in this case, how would I monitor the last pass in 4k? Connecting the screen directly to the computer?

Well, if you have a Blackmagic UltraStudio 4K or a 4K Mini, or a Decklink 4K or 8K, it'll "just work" connected to one of those. But without a color-managed output, I wouldn't trust the images coming out of the OS.
