Eugene, I do not live in Ukraine. But, it's no different than Hollywood hiring filmmakers from other parts of the world, which is pretty routine.
In the case of this film, one of the co-directors was from California and I think that it was easier for him to work with an American DP and we've worked together before. The rest of the crew were local Ukrainians.

Jenya, are you from Ukraine? I see that you now live in Brooklyn. :)

This was my 9th Russian and/or Ukrainian film. A strange career yes.

Yes, I am from Ukraine and currently living in the US.

You cannot really compare it to Hollywood, because the amount of films that is being produced in Ukraine is usually in single digits.

Again, I'm not debating the decision of hiring people from the US, I was simply curious.
