Windows 11 Release Event

I was just thinking about formatting my computer a month from now.

When do you guys think it would be safe to install windows 11? I guess It would be safer to re install windows 10 and keep it for the next 6 months at least.

I think the official word from Microsoft is Windows 11 will be available beginning of next year for retail and only end of this year for OEM / new systems.

I’d say it’s safe to use Windows 10 for a year or more until doing the switch. Perhaps with Resolve 18 or 19? :)

I went from very excited, to very “meh.”

the strict hardware requirements of 8th gen Intel / 2nd gen Ryzen and no Android apps at launch sucked the excitement out of the launch for me.

Small feedback:

I upgraded to Windows 11, my personal machine is compatible. (it is not a production machine because I am no longer active).

At the start of the update, when analyzing the system, I had to uninstall 1 incompatible software but there is a new compatible version.

On the other hand, I made the mistake of not deactivating a software which has a license key linked to the version of windows (windows 10) and when I launched it with windows 11, the existing key was refused. I had to request a new license key.

So to update, it is better to check the license keys and deactivate them.

Otherwise, on the performance side, there is no improvement or slowdown for Davinci Resolve and other software.
It's just comfort for the future.:)

Some are using Premiere on Win11, but Adobe has made it clear it is not officially supported yet.

I am still confused on this, I have a ton of software that is super expensive to update/do-subscription, where i let my updates lapse because of the expense as I moved to things like davinci. So I have a window 10 machine that I really don’t want to do any changes yet I have been forced to do updates. Does this mean that the windows 10 can be run without those “forced” updates ?

[ie old days new version license updates were between 2k to 5k each, so I have a ton of old perpetual licenses on my old windows machine … which btw is 24 cores and 256 gig of ram … and still runs perfectly (a hp server/desktop)]
 
I'd guess that most of the people who are "upgrading" to Win11 are probably doing so by buying new computers that include Win11 rather than switching from Win10 to Win11.
