We very often have projects to grade with a mix of media shot intended for 16x9+9x16 output.
This may consist of:
Media A: 16x9 source + orientation for 16x9 output
Media B: 16x9 source with 90deg rotated camera for 9x16 output
Media C: 9x16 source media + orientation for 9x16 output
While it sounds like it shouldn't be a big deal managing image scaling gets messy if I want to export back in source resolution and orientation.
What I thought worked but apparently doesn't is working in a 3840x2160 timeline (footage resolution) and use Input Sizing in the color page to correct the rotation/zoom for media A. Or working in 2160x3840 when using only Media B and C for 9x16 output but correct the rotation/zoom for B.
While power window mask data seems to remain accurate, qualifying completely broke as matte and magic mask data was also not working anymore. It's likely that other spatial effects are also not exactly the same after render vs what you see in Resolve.
How would you tackle this challenge? Splitting everything up in their own timeline is not really an option because you need to grade them together in context and utilize their index for file naming in our workflow.
